AI & Automation Specialist
AI & Automation Specialist
Fischer Roofing | Jackson, NJ | Full-Time | On-Site
About the Role
Fischer Roofing is a growing roofing company looking for its first AI & Automation Specialist. This is a new role, and you will help shape it from the ground up. Your mission is to find where our team loses time, money, or accuracy, and then use AI tools and automation to fix it. You will work across every part of the business, from the office and estimating to scheduling, crews in the field, sales, and customer service.
We are not looking for someone who builds technology for its own sake. We want a practical problem solver who listens to the people doing the work, picks the right tools, and makes everyone's day easier.
What You'll Do
• Review how work gets done across the company (estimates, job scheduling, material ordering, invoicing, permits, customer follow-up) and identify the biggest opportunities to save time and reduce errors.
• Design, build, and maintain automation that connects our existing software, such as CRM, estimating, accounting, and scheduling tools.
• Introduce and set up practical AI tools for tasks like drafting proposals, answering common customer questions, summarizing job notes, and processing paperwork.
• Streamline data entry and reporting so leadership has accurate, up-to-date numbers on jobs, sales, and costs.
• Train team members on new tools and workflows and create simple guides so changes stick.
• Work closely with office staff, project managers, and crew leaders to understand their challenges.
• Track the results of each project (hours saved, faster turnaround, fewer mistakes) and report progress to leadership.
• Keep company and customer data secure and make sure tools are used responsibly.
• Stay current on new AI and automation tools and recommend what is worth adopting.
What We're Looking For
• 2+ years of experience in business automation, operations, IT, or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier or Microsoft Copilot).
• Comfort connecting software systems, working with spreadsheets and data, and learning new tools quickly.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas in plain language to people who are not tech experts.
• A team-first attitude. You are patient, approachable, and enjoy helping others work smarter.
• Self-motivated and organized, able to manage multiple projects and set priorities.
Nice to Have
• Experience or knowledge in roofing, construction, home services, or other trades.
• Familiarity with industry software such as AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Roofr, ServiceTitan, or QuickBooks.
• Basic scripting or programming skills (for example, Python or JavaScript).
• Experience leading change or rolling out new technology at a small or mid-size company.
What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days
• You have met with each department and mapped out our key workflows and pain points.
• You have delivered at least two or three quick automations that save the team measurable time.
• You have presented a prioritized roadmap for automation and AI projects over the next year.
What We Offer
• Competitive salary: $110,000-$125,000
• Paid time off
• The chance to build a brand-new role and make a visible impact across the whole company
• A supportive, hands-on team that is ready to embrace better ways of working
